Ruth was born and raised in Liverpool England where she had a very successful career in finance. In 2006 Ruth and her husband, John, emigrated to South Africa and have been living in Greyton. Following her successful career, Ruth needed an outlet for her creative energy. Working in clay, Ruth sculpts the human form, both female and male and, inspired by her newly found love of Africa, also likes to sculpt the African face, capturing the compassion, faith and humanity she sees there. Initially Ruth’s clay sculptures were fired and in the majority of cases donated to charity auctions to raise money for children in need. Her sculptures are now cast in bronze at Fusion 5 Foundry in Strand, making it possible to offer limited editions of her art to a wider audience.
